Nearly 50 aviation enthusiasts descended upon the Nelspruit Airport to view the facilities and meet the Kishugu pilot instructors.

“I was never quite sure if flying was for me, but after taking the controls during my introductory flight, I realised that I definitely want to become a pilot,” said an excited Joel Abraham at Kishugu Aviation Training Organisation’s (ATO) Open Day, held on Saturday, 30 July 2016.

The Aviation Training Organisation believes in making dreams come true, and they once again created the platform for this, when they recently hosted their annual Open Day at the training school’s premises at the Nelspruit Airfield.

“It has always been a dream of mine to be able to fly. That’s why I decided to visit the Open Day at Kishugu and learn more about what subjects at school I need to become a pilot,” said Kyle Kinnear, a 15-year-old Hoërskool Bergvlam learner.

Head of Department at Kishugu ATO, Carel van der Merwe’s life is testimony to the dreams many aspiring pilots have: “I have been a pilot for many years. I’ve met the most interesting people and visited many countries which few people will ever have the privilege to visit. I wouldn’t trade it for one moment.”
